But would not Clinton stealing the nomination - by way of the proverbial smoked filled room - have an effect upon the Dem's African American base?   The disillusionment and anger would be huge - and not just among African Amreicans.  Such a breach between the Dem leadership and a significant portion of its base cannot but have significant implication.  such a situation would open doors to the McKinney campaign, at the very least. 

I don't think that national/race question would "go away" in such a context. SR
