I am afraid that Malik has been watching too much television. This
business about "throwing Wright under the bus" has been heard ad
infinitum on news shows in the past couple of months. A google search on
"Wright bus Obama under" brings up links to 1,470,000 pages, such as this:

Obama Is Throwing Wright Under the Bus
April 30, 2008 02:09 PM ET | Michael Barone | Permanent Link

On Monday, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright spoke at the National Press Club in
Washington, with nationwide reverberations. On Tuesday, Barack Obama
denounced Wright and his statements. Judging from the talk I've been
hearing from Democratic insiders since Wright's Monday speech, Obama did
what he had to do.

Another catch phrase is "closing the deal", like asking when Obama can
finalize his nomination. The term comes from the world of sales, a
perfect metaphor for bourgeois politics.
